The conference excursion is open to all delegates who selected the full package, and includes a guided tour to New Lanark World Heritage Site. New Lanark World Heritage Site is a unique 18th century Mill Village sitting alongside the picturesque River Clyde, about 40 km Southeast of Glasgow. Founded in 1785 with a focus on philanthropy, education and the welfare of the mill workers, New Lanark became a model for industrial communities that was to spread across the world in the 19th and 20th centuries. New Lanark was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2001. The ongoing conservation and promotion of this unique village and the award-winning visitor attraction is managed by New Lanark Trust, in partnership with South Lanarkshire Council & Historic Environment Scotland. Buses will depart from outside the TIC at 14:00 and will arrive at New Lanark just before 15:00. Please present your excursion ticket upon entering the bus. The guided tour will be organised in small groups, with detailed information provided on the day. There will also be some free time to explore the site, shop and café. Buses will leave New Lanark at 17:00 and take delegates directly to the Gala Dinner venue.
